Landlord Tenant Laws State by State Listing
Landlord and Tenant legal disputes come with the turf.
FEDERAL LANDLORD TENANT LAWSThis Act governs landlord-tenant relationships under rental agreements for residential purposes. This Act does not apply to rental agreements made for commercial, industrial, agricultural, or any purpose other than residential. The purpose and intent of this Act are: (1) to simplify, clarify, modernize, and revise the law governing the rental of dwelling units and the rights and obligations of landlords and tenants; (2) to encourage landlords and tenants to maintain and improve the quality of housing; and (3) to make uniform the law with respect to the subject of this Act among those states which enact it.
The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, in association with the University of Pennsylvania Law School, is making these drafts of Uniform and Model Acts available to help fulfill their mission to distribute information to the public. Links to the WordPerfect/Word, Adobe PDF, and generic text versions are available at the top of each document. Comments can be made about any draft available through this site.
